Some Other Place Inc. (the "Company") operates Hug, a 1:1 voice and text conversation service. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, disclose, transfer, and protect personal information when users access or use Hug and related services.

We may collect information provided by users directly, information generated through use of the service, and information received from third-party platforms used for authentication, payment, communications, analytics, fraud prevention, and support.

We use personal information to create and manage accounts, verify identity, provide voice and text communication features, process payments and payouts, prevent fraud and abuse, moderate content, enforce platform rules, provide customer support, improve service quality, conduct analytics, develop new features, train and improve AI or machine learning systems where permitted by law, send service notices, provide marketing communications where allowed, and comply with legal obligations.
Hug may process communication data, including text, voice data, audio interactions, call metadata, and related service usage information, for service operation, safety, fraud detection, content moderation, compliance monitoring, service improvement, and AI or machine learning model development where permitted by applicable law. Data used for AI model improvement may be anonymized, aggregated, or otherwise processed to reduce identifiability.
We may share personal information with trusted service providers that help us operate Hug, including cloud infrastructure, database, AI, authentication, payment, payout, communications, fraud prevention, analytics, customer support, and business operations providers. These providers may include Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, OpenAI, MongoDB Atlas, Google, Apple, Kakao, Twilio, Payoneer, MaxMind, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365. These providers are required to process information in accordance with applicable laws and contractual obligations.
We may transfer, store, and process personal information in countries other than the user's country of residence. We take steps designed to ensure that cross-border transfers comply with applicable data protection laws, including the use of appropriate contractual and technical safeguards where required.
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and abuse, maintain security, improve the service, and protect our legitimate business interests.
